Matt Lasater, Biale Asst. Winemaker

Matt Lasater, Assistant WineMaker

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Matt grew up with an affinity for nature and being outside.

He began cooking in restaurants while attending college. He skipped graduate school to follow his dream to become a chef by graduating from the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone campus in St. Helena. As he gained more and more interest in wine, he got his first job in the wine industry in one of Denver’s premiere wine shops. His first harvest job was for Ceritas Wines in 2016. The following summer, Matt returned to Napa Valley and began working with some of the most talented producers in the region. His time at Staglin Family Vineyard, Pahlmeyer, and Colgin Cellars gave Matt invaluable experiences he relies on today. It was while working as Enologist for Neyers Vineyards in 2019, his love of California’s old vine vineyards flourished. He joined Robert Biale Vineyards in 2022 as Enologist and is now Assistant Winemaker.

Outside of the cellar, Matt loves spending time with his wife and young children, cooking meals to share and is always thirsty for more knowledge when it comes to wine.
